Itohan Amu (Mercy)
Co-Founder
Itohan Amu, also known as Mercy, is the co-founder of GMI Estates LLC. Born in Nigeria, she moved to Belize at the age of one and was raised there. At 14, she relocated to the United States, spending a year and a half in Atlanta before moving to Washington, DC, to continue her education. She pursued a degree in Political Science, with minors in Communications and Sociology, initially planning to attend law school. However, the COVID-19 pandemic shifted her perspective, prompting her to earn a Master’s degree in Emergency Management with a focus on Homeland Security. During this period, she was still exploring her true career path, and her growing interest in business led her to become an Operations Manager at Amazon. This role inspired her to pursue a Doctorate in Business Administration, with a concentration in Innovation and Strategy. After a year and a half at Amazon, she transitioned to an Operations Manager position at a tech startup, which allowed her to further explore the business field while living in four states within a single year. Although she enjoys her current role, Itohan has reflected on her passion for business and real estate, realizing her desire to build a legacy with God’s help. Real estate has always been a deep passion of hers, and she is grateful to God for leading her to this point. Her aim is to create a foundation that serves, uplifts, and supports many, consistently entrusting her work to God’s guidance.
